'Broadchurch' Season 2 Begins With a Major Twist

Broadchurch's Season 1 whodunnit mystery was solved in the finale, but when the British crime drama returns in March, the case will be far from over.

Season 2, which premieres March 4 on BBC America, picks up several months after the events of the finale.  Alec Hardy (David Tennant) and the family of murder victim Danny Latimer are preparing for the plea and sentencing of killer Joe Miller (Matthew Gravelle). Also awaiting the closure of the case is Joe’s estranged wife, Ellie (Olivia Colman), Hardy’s partner who has fled to anonymity in Devon.

The grieving parents, Beth (Jodie Whittaker) and Mark (Andrew Buchan), want the whole thing over and done with, so they can try to move forward with their lives. But everybody is shocked when Joe makes a last-minute decision at his trial. Joe’s choice will reverberate throughout Season 2, as details about the Latimers, Millers, and townspeople are dredged up once again. Complicating the case for Hardy is a past crime, Sandbrook, which returns to haunt him in Broadchurch.

Broadchurch premieres Wednesday, March 4 at 10 p.m. on BBC America.
