‘Broad City’: Watch 5 Emmy-Deserving BFF Moments From Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson

As we enter Emmy season — nomination voting runs through June 27 — Yahoo TV will be spotlighting performances, writing, and other contributions that we feel deserve recognition.

Lucy and Ethel. Laverne and Shirley. Rachel and Monica. Those are a few of our favorite female TV best friends. Then, Abbi and Ilana of Comedy Central’s hit series Broad City came along and stole our hearts faster than you could say, “YAAAS KWEEN!”

Playing heightened versions of themselves, Abbi Jacobson’s and Ilana Glazer’s characters only care about one thing. No, it’s not their careers, buying expensive clothes, or getting married. The one thing they truly care about … is each other. They are soulmates. They are each other’s happily ever after. They are, as Ilana puts it best, “very Jay and Bey.”

The brilliance of the first couple of seasons of Broad City made us fall in love with Abbi and Ilana, with their clever writing, nonstop laugh-out-loud moments, and stellar performances. But it’s Season 3 that’s the strongest to date, as we saw their characters dip out of their comfort zones for the first time: Abbi starting a relationship she wasn’t proud of, the comedic duo actually venturing out of New York City to go to Abbi’s childhood home in Philadelphia to visit her dad (played by Tony Danza), and, of course, the two-part season finale, where the girls go on a birthright trip to Israel.

In the video above, Yahoo TV showcases five Emmy-deserving BFF moments from Abbi and Ilana (you know, so the TV Academy doesn’t forget again). Some highlights include the time when the girls swapped outfits and Abbi did her best Ilana impression, Ilana sobbing to Abbi after she’d been dumped by her boyfriend, Lincoln (played by Hannibal Buress), and — our personal favorite — when the girls became so wrapped up in their conversation about far-out inventions (such as “a gynecologist that’s also a bikini waxer”) that they were completely oblivious to a woman toppling down the stairs behind them and ultimately getting carried away on a stretcher by paramedics.

So, here’s hoping that this year Jacobson and Glazer get the nominations they deserve. (And if not both of them do, at least one of them does.)

Broad City is streaming on Comedy Central and Hulu.
