‘Broad City’ Season 3 Deleted Scene: ‘Let’s Talk Simultaneous Deaths’
Susie Essman as Bobbi Wexler, Ilana’s mother on Comedy Central’s Broad City, is one of the greatest casting decisions in television history. She’s essentially playing a future version of her daughter, and it explains Ilana’s almost cartoonish impulsiveness perfectly. We have an exclusive look at a deleted scene of Bobbi and the rest of the Wexler family from Broad City’s Season 3 DVD.
Cut from episode 8 — where Ilana must cope with the loss of her sometimes boyfriend Lincoln (Hannibal Buress) and Abbi tries to cover up her relationship with Trey (Paul Downs) — Ilana’s parents celebrate their anniversary by updating their wills. They cover what will happen if both Bobbi and Arthur (Bob Balaban) die at the same time, who gets their money, and who should pull the plug if they’re on life support. It’s weirdly romantic and, since Ilana clearly idealizes their marriage, also gives some insight into just what she sees in Lincoln.
Broad City Season 3 on DVD releases Jan. 10. Season 4 premieres on Comedy Central this summer.
