Brittany Mahomes Shrugs Off Haters amid “SI Swimsuit” Debut: 'Keep Shining and Being You'

Brittany, 28, is making her 'SI Swimsuit' debut as a 2024 Rookie for the magazine's 60th anniversary issue

Brittany Mahomes is rising above any haters amid her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut.

On Thursday, the 28-year-old — who is married to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes — made her SI debut as a 2024 Rookie.

While posting one of the pictures from her shoot on her Instagram Story, Brittany shared a message with her 1.8 million followers: "I'm here to tell you, people will dislike you, people will love you.

"Don't let any of that define you," she continued.

"KEEP SHINING and being YOU," Brittany concluded her message, adding some star emojis.

Brittany will feature in the magazine’s 60th anniversary issue, out in May.

While the spread hasn't officially been released yet, it'll likely include the mom of two modeling a collection of swimsuits, just like the red Mugler cutout one-piece she wore in one of the photos shared.

“I never in my wildest dreams thought this would happen,” Brittany told SI Swim of her new gig, which was unveiled days before the Chiefs play against the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl in Las Vegas on Feb. 11.

“I’m so thankful and honored and so excited to be here with this team,” she said, adding that “never in a million years” did she think she'd get the opportunity to model for the publication.

“I want women to feel empowered to always be yourself, love yourself and feel confident in whatever you do, and I think SI Swimsuit does, too,” Brittany continued.

According to MJ Day, SI Swim’s editor in chief, Brittany is the perfect Rookie choice for the magazine's 60th anniversary issue.

“Brittany Mahomes is your newest 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Rookie! Owner of the Kansas City Current NWSL team, former pro athlete, wife and mother, Brittany emerges as the epitome of a modern-day powerhouse," she said in the SI Swim article about Brittany's upcoming appearance in the magazine.

Unsurprisingly, Brittany's family are super proud of her as well.

At the NFL honors on Thursday, Randi Mahomes, the mother of NFL star Patrick, shared exclusively with PEOPLE that she is in “awe” of Brittany after her SI Swimsuit debut was revealed.

“I’ve seen all the pictures. I’ve seen all of that. I’m just in awe of her,” Randi, 48, said.

“She’s so disciplined. I’ll eat with her, and I’m like ordering, you know… And she’s ordering very good, and I’m like, ‘Girl, I want to do what you’re doing,’” she added of her daughter-in-law's diet.
