Brittany Mahomes recently made headlines after being announced as Sports Illustrated's latest swimsuit model at 28 years of age.

“I never in my wildest dreams thought this would happen,” Brittany said of the experience. “I’m so thankful and honored and so excited to be here with this team.”

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, the mom of two described herself as “unapologetically always myself in any setting.” Brittany is no stranger to hate and backlash, but she doesn't let that stop her from being herself.

“Be confident in who you are and be unapologetically yourself,” the 28-year-old told the outlet. “People are going to love you or hate you, but finding your values and what makes you ‘you’ to be the best version of yourself is what really matters. Whether that’s health and wellness, being a great wife or mom, or career goals, being the best version of you is the most important thing you can be.”

When speaking to SheKnows, Brittany gushed about being a mom to her two children.

“Oh my goodness, I love being a mom,” she told the outlet. “I think I’ve been called to be a mom ever since I was little. Just seeing my kids grow up, and the things that they’re learning, and the things that they’re taking from their dad … when we have first experiences with them, taking them somewhere, seeing them happy and lit up and in good spirits when we do stuff, is probably the biggest thing that I enjoy.”

“I just want to be with my kids, you know, 24/7,” she added. “I want to always be with them, I want to do everything, but it’s also like — I have stuff I need to get done. And I need to take care of myself as well, so I’m not so tired. And you can’t pour from an empty cup, so I’ve got to keep my cup full. I’ve got to take some time for myself.”

The Mahomes’ kids, Sterling and Patrick 'Bronze' III, both have food allergies, and Brittany has become a vocal food allergy advocate to help other moms who may be struggling.

"I mean, it’s scary to have two kids with [allergies]," she told Allergic Living. "I think as parents, it’s definitely worrisome. But I think it’s your job as a parent to advocate for your kids. Something I don’t think I’ve ever had an issue with is speaking up. It’s your kid’s life in your hands, and it’s your job as a parent to keep them safe and protect them."

"In this crazy life that we do live, we are always on the go, we’re always traveling, and we’re always around other people. So it’s my job as a mom to speak up, and not feel bad about it," she added. The Mahomes' are always on the road due to Patrick's career as an NFL quarterback.

She concluded, "I think that’s a really big message I’m trying to get out there to parents dealing with food allergy. One, it’s becoming very common. So advocate for your kids and have that confident voice when you go out anywhere. Never feel bad about it. And never feel guilty for advocating for your kids."
