Brittany Howard has scheduled a fall tour, inked a major label record deal, and teased some new music as she prepared to follow-up her celebrated 2019 solo debut, Jaime.

To start, Howard will launch a short North American tour this November. The run starts Nov. 6 at Iron City in Birmingham, Alabama and wraps with a previously-announced gig at the Corona Capitol Festival in Mexico City. On all dates — except the Corona Capitol Festival — Howard will receive support from L’Rain.

Tickets for the new shows will go on sale Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. local time, though presales will begin Sept. 13. Full info is available on Howard’s website.

On top of that, Howard has signed with Island Records after releasing Jaime on the indie label ATO Records (which also released the two albums by Howard’s band, Alabama Shakes). “I couldn’t be happier to announce my new partnership with Island Records, a label with such an incredible legacy and team,” Howard said in a statement. “I cannot wait for the world to hear my new music and to start touring again.” (No official word yet, however, when that new music will start to arrive.)

Island Records Co-CEO Justin Eshak added, “I’m a huge admirer of Brittany. She’s already solidified herself as one of the great talents of her generation and is just getting started. Her artistry fits perfectly with Island’s unique legacy, and I’m delighted we get to play a role in her career moving forward.”

Howard rose to prominence with Alabama Shakes during the first half of the 2010s, with the group releasing a pair of acclaimed albums, 2012’s Boys & Girls, and 2015’s Sound & Color. Howard also played in the bands Thunderbitch and Bermuda Triangle before launching her solo career with Jaime.

In the years since Jaime, Howard has released the 2021 remix album, Jaime (Reimagined), as well as a couple of live EPs. She’s also dropped some scattered singles and collaborations, like a rendition of ”You’ll Never Walk Alone,” a cover of “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher,” “Checks and Balances,” “Running With the Angels,” and “I Bend But Never Break” with Rob Moose.
