Grammy-nominated singer Britt Nicole is baring her soul on her upcoming self-titled album.

"This record just feels real," the singer, 32, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "I'm not trying to be anything I'm not, nor am I hiding anything I am. I'm simply sharing my heart and life."

Indeed, there are songs about her marriage, her friends and her faith on the record. "It is a true representation of who I am," she says.

Once the album ( available here) is out on Oct. 7, Nicole hopes to reach her fans and help them through her music.

"I especially have a heart for those who feel alone, hurt and lost, looking for hope," she says. "I write from my own experiences and from the stories I've heard from fans. My goal in writing is always to be authentic and vulnerable in hopes that the song will connect with someone who may be going through the same thing."
