It's a big day for Britney Spears fans: The pop legend announced she is releasing her highly-anticipated memoir in October and it's being called "the publishing event of the year."

"The Woman in Me" will be published by Gallery Books, a Simon & Schuster imprint, Oct. 24, according to People. Spears confirmed the news on her Instagram story, sharing People's post.

"'The Woman in Me' is a brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope," the book's webpage reads.

“Britney’s compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery,” Jennifer Bergstrom, Gallery Books senior vice president and publisher, told People. “I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact — and will be the publishing event of the year. We couldn’t be more proud to help her share her story at last.”

In April 2022, Spears revealed in an Instagram post she was writing a book.

"Well I'm writing a book at the moment and it's actually healing and therapeutic ... it's also hard bringing up past events in my life," Spears wrote. "I've never been able to express openly!!! I can only imagine that I do sound childish but I was extremely young with those events took place."

Police say: Britney Spears slapped herself in encounter with Victor Wembanyama's security

The pop star has had a whirlwind past few years, between making headlines for being slapped by a NBA security guard, serving as the subject for a handful of documentaries, fighting to end her conservatorship (which a judge officially dissolved in November 2021 after nearly 14 years), marrying actor Sam Asghari, and pushing back against her sister's memoir, which Spears said featured "crazy lies for the Hollywood books."

Spears previously co-authored the 2000 autobiography "Britney Spears' Heart to Heart," and 2001 YA novel "A Mother's Gift" with her mother, Lynne Spears, both of which appeared on the USA TODAY Best-Selling books list.
