Britney Spears Fans Have A Concerning Theory About Her New Song ‘Mind Your Business’

Not every Britney Spears fan is excited for her upcoming single with Will.I.Am “Mind Your Business.” Some simply believe that the track has been picked up off the cutting room floor and dusted off to make a quick buck before Spears releases her tell-all book. Other fans are convinced that it is not Spears singing on the track at all.

TikTok user AllyNaston broke down the theory about how Myah Marie, a backup vocalist who has done demo vocals for Spears in the past, ended up as the lead vocals not only on one of Spears’ albums, but on this upcoming single as well.

As the pop star was working on her 2013 album Britney Jean, which was produced by Will.i.am, Spears was spending a lot of time prepping for her Las Vegas residency. During that time, Marie was recording the demo vocals for the album. Since Spears was so busy, some lifelong fans of Britney believe that most of the vocals that ended up on the album were actually Marie’s.

The backup vocalist denied the allegations, but leaked stems and audio data credited Marie for the vocals. Even Marie’s father confirmed the theory, telling Star magazine that “my daughter sings for Britney Spears. The truth is, Myah can sound just like her. She has a knack.”

Cut to today, and Spears fans are again convinced that Marie’s vocals are being passed as Britney’s for “Mind Your Business.” AllyNaston reminded folks of a Reddit AMA Marie did back in 2019, during which she answered the question, “What demo did you sing on that you wish Britney had recorded?”

“There was one that Will.I.Am wrote, it was really cool, it was kind of rappy, it was for Britney Jean,” she explained. ‘[It was called] something like ‘Business’ like ‘be up in my business, something cool,'” she added.

A recent interview Will.I.Am gave has also added fuel to this theory that Spears isn’t the one singing on this new track. When asked if he and Spears were working on anything, Will.I.Am referred to work “from the past” coming back into the mix.

“I almost plum forgot about Myah, wow… this is definitely suspicious,” commented one fan. “As soon as it was announced, I was suspicious,” added another. Spears has also not shared a snippet of the single on her Instagram grid like Will.I.Am has, which has even more folks convinced that this song is yet another example of others making a cash grab off of Spears’ musical career.
