Actor Sam Asghari is apparently not looking to start dating amid the release of Britney Spears' memoir, "The Woman In Me."

The two met on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016 and hit it off right away. He popped the question in September 2021, two months before she was freed of her controversial conservatorship. They tied the knot in June 2022, but on August 16, 2023, the actor filed for divorce after only fourteen months of marriage.

When TMZ caught up to Sam Asghari, the actor was asked if he was “nervous” about what his ex might say about him in her new memoir, “The Woman In Me.” Sam seemed quite confident when he replied, “No, I’ve… I already read it and I’m very proud of her and, you know, she put a lot of work to it and it was very hard, so I’m definitely excited and I’m extremely proud of her. It was a very tough one, and, uh, you know, I can’t wait to read it. I’ll be the first one in line to buy it.”

When asked if the “Special Ops: Lioness” actor was “back in the dating pool,” the 29-year-old actor replied, “No, I’m focused on work right now. So, you know, that’s what I’m… I’m doing. I’m putting a lot of work in stunt training and a lot of acting and as you can see, that’d be great. Thank you very much.”

On Wednesday, August 16, TMZ was the first to break the news that the former couple had separated after Britney allegedly cheated on him. The actor filed for divorce later that day; ET was the first to confirm that the legal papers had been filed.

“Britney and Sam have split. She’s adamant she didn’t cheat. The two haven’t got along for a while and it finally came to an end after a major blowup,” a source told the outlet.

The source went on to tell ET, “She has been trying to get back on her feet and be healthy emotionally, physically, and mentally. Britney has people by her side and her immediate circle is there for her,” adding, “They are rallying around her.”

“Britney and Sam have had ups and downs throughout their relationship. They have a lot of love for each other, but they also argue a lot over fundamental issues,” they continued. “Sometimes they feel as though each other’s needs aren’t being completely met. Recently, things took a bad turn and their arguments became more serious and real.”

Another source told the outlet that the former couple “have had issues on and off as a couple since before they were married.”

“Their issues tend to get worse when they are away from each other and spending time apart. Britney has the tendency to feel like she isn’t being prioritized by Sam at times,” the insider alleged. “Their arguments have led them to become unhappy at times in their relationship. They are also on different pages when it comes to their future as a couple, which has been a point of contention.”

Although the WGA writer’s strike and the SAG-AFTRA strike have shut down Hollywood over the past few weeks, sources told TMZ at the end of August that Sam wants to continue working as a character actor and might even land a few hosting gigs if he can. The source said that he has no plans to resume working as a personal trainer at Royal Personal Training in Los Angeles, where he was working when he first met Briteny in 2016.

The following day, a source also told Page Six that the actor was “unemployed” following the divorce. “He’s jobless,” the insider said. “He doesn’t have any acting gigs lined up at the moment.”

The insider said that he had filmed his only upcoming project, “Grand Death Lotto,” weeks before the SAG-AFTRA strike began. The insider lamented that “Sam is still looking for his big break” but is hopeful that he will land a major role soon.
