Not only did she join James Corden for The Late Late Show’s cornerstone “Carpool Karaoke” segment, the performer also dropped her latest album, Glory, on Thursday night.
Spears’ ninth studio album features her latest single, “Make Me” featuring G-Eazy, and earlier releases “Private Show,” “Do You Wanna Come Over?” and “Clumsy.” Spears will commemorate the arrival of Glory with a long-awaited return to the VMA stage on Sunday, where she’ll make the live TV debut of “Make Me."
During "Carpool Karaoke,” she mostly laughed along while Corden sang her hit “Toxic,” before they both sang “Womanizer,” “Baby One More Time,” and talked about wanting more kids (but she doesn’t believe in marriage anymore).
Before singing “Oops!… I Did It Again,” Corden asked her what the song is about, but she didn’t know (“It’s just a song”). “Because I think about it every time I order at Domino’s,” said Corden. He even re-enacted the ending of the music video, gifting her a red pen instead of a priceless gem.
“Baby One More Time” was the big moment, of course, with the duo singing along wearing the outfits from Spears’ music video, grey sweaters and scrunchies and all.
Spears shared some of her old aliases she’s used to check in to hotels with the host too (her favorite? Anita Dick), and while singing “Womanizer,” Corden even showed Spears his robot dance moves as she tried out some of her own.
