Brigitte Nielsen may be known for her famous roles in Rocky IV and Red Sonja, but her most important role is being a mom to her five children.

The Beverly Hills Cop II star has four sons from previous marriages — Julian, Killian, Douglas and Raoul — as well as 5-year-old daughter, Frida, with her husband Mattia Dessi.

Brigitte welcomed her youngest when she was 54 years old after 13 years of IVF. At 60 years old, she told PEOPLE she’s aware of what most people think — that she’s too old to have such a young child.

“Half the world was saying that when I got pregnant at 55 — including my four older sons,” she said in a November 2023 interview. “But first of all, there’s no such thing as ‘too old.’

From their childhoods to their passions, here’s everything to know about Brigitte Nielsen’s five kids.

Julian Winding, 39

Brigitte welcomed her first child, Julian, with her ex-husband Kasper Winding on April 12, 1984. While his parents split when he was just a few months old — his mom went on to marry Sylvester Stallone in 1985 — he is close to both his parents.

Julian’s father is a Danish composer and Julian followed in his footsteps. He is now based in Berlin, Germany, and has released numerous compositions and soundtracks for movies and TV shows. Most recently, he made music for Netflix’s Copenhagen Cowboy and Borderline, per his IMDb.

Killian Gastineau, 33

Killian was born on Dec. 15, 1989, to Brigitte and former New York Jets player Mark Gastineau. Killian’s father was married to his previous wife Lisa with whom he had a daughter, Brittny, before he left her for Brigitte — and Killian didn’t get to meet his sister until much later in life.

Though Killian was born in Arizona, he moved to Italy shortly after and grew up in the country. When he was 20 years old, Brittny reached out to him after her mom ran into Brigitte at Ivana Trump’s wedding and the two exchanged their children’s numbers, she told PEOPLE in 2010.

I’ve always known I have a half-brother, I was told as a kid, but he was totally off the radar. It was like he didn’t exist,” Brittny told PEOPLE.

A year later, Brittny and Lisa met up for dinner with Killian, Brigitte and her husband Mattia in Beverly Hills.

“It was very weird and surreal,” Brittny said. “I didn’t cry. I’m too tough to cry. But we hugged, we talked about old stories. He said he watched Gastineau Girls in Italy, so he knew what I looked like.”

She added, “I asked him a million questions, but he doesn’t speak English. He’s really cute. He’s like 6′ 5″, blonde. He looks exactly like Brigitte.”

Per his Instagram, Killian is an actor and model and has been with his partner, Laura Barbieri, since at least June 2021 when he posted her on his feed for the first time.

Brigitte married Raoul Meyer in 1993 and the two welcomed two children together before their split in 2005. Their first son, Douglas, was born on April 19, 1993, and was also raised in Italy.

Now, Douglas is a model, mainly working out of Italy. He is close to his mom and younger brother, Raoul. In 2018, Douglas stepped out with his mom on the opening night of the documentary Sell/Buy/Date at the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

Brigitte later revealed on The Talk that her sons were in Milan, Italy, during the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed her concerns as the city was hit particularly hard at the time and had imposed a strict quarantine.

I speak to my children every day. They are in Milan, and they are in the area where it’s more dangerous,” she said. “True, the entire country, 16 million people, is now on lockdown. What my kids are saying, they are fine, but it is a very, very difficult situation for them because they are scared.”

Douglas is also close to Brigitte's youngest child, Frida. Brigitte posted a photo carousel in September 2018 of Douglas holding and posing with a then-3-month-old Frida, captioning the sweet photos, "siblings love ❤️ Frida smiles Douglas."

Brigitte’s youngest son, Raoul, was born on May 21, 1995, and is the most private of all of Brigitte’s boys. Like his brothers, he also grew up in Italy, though he largely stayed out of the public eye.

In 2021, Raoul partnered with his brother Douglas to launch RD/19, a gin company distilled and bottled in Milan. Just two years after they started the brand, it was awarded the bronze medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition, as the brothers announced on Instagram.

“Right after its second birthday, RD/19 has been awarded the bronze medal at the IWSC Competition in London, the biggest and most influential spirits’ competition in the world, for the categories Spirits and Gin & Tonic🥉🌍🇮🇹,” they wrote in the caption. “We couldn’t be more happy and proud 🍸.”

Brigitte welcomed her youngest child and first daughter, Frida, on June 22, 2018, with her husband Mattia. They got married in 2006, and Brigitte underwent 13 rounds of IVF before giving birth to her daughter.

“We are overjoyed to welcome our beautiful daughter into our lives,” the proud parents told PEOPLE at the time. “It’s been a long road, and so worth it. We’ve never been more in love.”

While many were critical of Brigitte’s pregnancy at 54 years old, she told PEOPLE in November 2023 that her age has only made her a better mom.

“You know how kids say grandmothers are the best?” she said. “I feel like I have that mindset and emotion. I have the patience and that extra bit of love to give now, and I think it’s because I’m a grandmother’s age."

She continued, "When I was a younger mom, I was often juggling being single, being on a plane, on a movie set. Now Frida comes first.”

The family now lives in Marbella, Spain, where Brigitte said she has the freedom to devote her time to Frida.

“I had a long time to prepare for Frida,” she said. “The doctor warned me to be realistic about my chances. He told me I had a two and a half percent chance of getting pregnant, so when it finally happened, it was just amazing. And then there was fear, because I was such high-risk, being 54.”

However, she said her pregnancy with Frida was the easiest of her five pregnancies, joking she “could have been pregnant for another year.”
