‘Garfunkel & Oates’ Series Green-Lit by IFC
IFC has given the green light to a 10-episode series starring the comedy-folk duo Garfunkel & Oates. “Garfunkel & Oates,” slated for 2014, will focus on the aspirations and misadventures of Riki Lindhome (Garfunkel) and Kate Micucci (Oates), known for their satirical and sometimes dirty songs. Abominable Pictures is producing the series with Lindhome, Micucci and Jonathan Stern as executive producers. IFC’s president and general manager Jennifer Caserta said their humor is fresh and accessible and they’ll be a great fit alongside “The Spoils of Babylon,” “Portlandia,” “Maron” and other shows on the horizon.”

Showtime Will Air ‘Llewyn Davis’ Concert
Showtime will air the Sept. 29 Town Hall concert “Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating The Music Of Inside Llewyn Davis” on Dec. 13. Among the performers were the Avett Brothers, Joan Baez, Colin Meloy of the Decemberists, the Milk Carton Kids, Keb’ Mo’, Marcus Mumford, Conor Oberst, Punch Brothers, Dave Rawlings Machine, the Secret Sisters, Patti Smith, Gillian Welch, and Jack White. Oscar Isaac, who plays the title role, and other stars of the film — Carey Mulligan, Adam Driver, Stark Sands and John Goodman — participated. In addition to concert footage, the documentary will feature behind-the-scenes material from the feature film, including rehearsals and interviews with filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen and cast.

‘America’s Got Talent’ Operatic Trio Sign With SYCO/Columbia Records
The operatic trio of Josh Page, Sean Panikkar and Fernando Varela, Forte, introduced to the U.S. via “America’s Got Talent,” has signed with SYCO/Columbia Records. Their self-titled debut album will be released Nov. 12 with the lead single “Caruso” released digitally on Sept. 30. Among the songs performed on the show that will be included on the album are “My Heart Will Go On,” “Unchained Melody,” and “Pie Jesu.”

Release Date for Debut from ‘American Idol”s Candice Glover Pushed Back
The debut album from “American Idol’s” most recent champion has been pushed back to next year. “Music Speaks” from Candice Glover, winner of the 12th season of the Fox show, will be released Feb. 18. It had been scheduled for early October. It marks the first time since the second season, when “Idol” moved to winter-spring from summer, that an “Idol”: champ has not released an album in the year in which they won. Glover is working with producers Harvey Mason Jr. and Jackie Boyz on her 19 Recordings/Interscope Records release.

‘Contest’ Soundtrack Released a Week Early
Razor & Tie has released the soundtrack for the Cartoon Network movie “Contest” a week prior to its airing. Tracks from A Great Big World and Ryan Starr plus cast members Kenton Duty and Katherine McNamara. The Cartoon Network will broadcast videos from the soundtrack this week; “Contest” is the main programming feature for the network’s anti-bullying initiatives.

International Documentary Association Will Present Seminar on Sound in Documentaries
The International Documentary Association will present a daylong seminar on music and sound in documentaries. “Doc U: Creating Sound and Music for Docs – From Location to Final Mix” will be held Oct. 5 at the Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Dolby Institute are co-presenting the event with panelists such as composer/Sundance Film Music Program director Peter Golub, senior VP/executive producer of FirstCom Music Ken Nelson, composers Miriam Cutler and Mark degli Antoni, and directors Marta Cunningham, Bess Kargman, Alex Rotaru, AJ Schnack, and Lucy Walker.
