Working Title hit rom-com fans with a surprise as they announced a new Bridget Jones film is officially in the works at the studio.

Titled Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, the film will be an adaptation of Helen Fielding's 2013 novel of the same name, which follows Bridget "through the challenges of single-motherhood, tweeting, texting and rediscovering her sexuality in what SOME people rudely and outdatedly call 'middle age'" as per the book's official synopsis.

Renée Zellweger will return in the titular role, with Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson reprising their roles and newcomers Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall joining the fun.

Not only has the film been announced, but we also have a release date: Valentine's Day 2025.

Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy will be directed by two-time Emmy nominee Michael Morris, who has directed episodes of hit television series Billions, 13 Reasons Why and Better Call Saul.

Fans are notably curious about the lack of mention of Colin Firth, who appeared in the prior three films as Mark Darcy. The answer to that one can be found inside the pages of Fielding's novel.
