‘Bridgerton’ Spinoff About Queen Charlotte Gets a Title, First Look Photo

Netflix’s prequel about “Bridgerton” character Queen Charlotte has an official title.

On Friday, Netflix and Shondaland confirmed the show will be called “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.”

The series, which Shonda Rhimes is showrunning herself, follows the story of the young version of the character made famous in “Bridgerton” by Golda Rosheuvel. Netflix also shared a photo on Friday showing India Amarteifio in the young Queen Charlotte role. More details about the limited series are expected on Saturday as part of Netflix’s Tudum global fan event.

“Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” follows Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power. Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury) and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton) reprise their roles from the main series.

Joining Amarteifio in the cast are Michelle Fairley, who plays Princess Augusta; Corey Mylchreest, who plays Young King George’ Arsema Thomas, who plays Young Agatha Danbury (Lady Danbury). The series also features Sam Clemmett as Young Brimsley, Freddie Dennis as Reynolds , Richard Cunningham as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim as Adolphus, Rob Maloney as the Royal Doctor, Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury, and “Bridgerton” actor Hugh Sachs as the older Brimsley.

Joining Rhimes as EPs are Betsy Beers and Tom Verica, who also directs.
