'Bridgerton'

Dearest gentle reader, we bring you good tidings: there is more Bridgerton for you and the rest of the ton to look forward to.

The hit period drama, based on Julia Quinn’s book series, was renewed for a fourth season back in 2021. Netflix ordered both Seasons 3 and 4 while the second season of Bridgerton was still in production. At the time, the streamer said: "Bridgerton swept us off our feet. The creative team, led by Shonda [Rhimes], knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the Bridgerton business for a long time to come.”

So, which Bridgerton sibling's love story is up next? Here is everything we know about Season 4 of Bridgerton.

Which couple will Bridgerton Season 4 focus on?

The first three seasons of Bridgerton focused on the love stories of Daphne Bridgerton, Anthony Bridgerton and Colin Bridgerton. While the first two seasons followed the order of Julia Quinn's books, the show skipped Benedit Bridgerton's story in Season 3 and instead jumped ahead to Penelope Featherington and Colin's romance.

Showrunner Jess Brownell previously explained to Entertainment Weekly, "We've spent two seasons really getting to know Penn and Colin. We've been watching Penn's crush and seeing how oblivious Colin is to it. That's a dynamic that you can only play out for so long before something has to change. This really felt like the right time to lean into what's been set up with them. On the Benedict side, he's such a fun character and such a fan favorite that we are really excited to play with him for a little bit more and let him have more fun before he settles down."

As for which couple will be taking center stage in Season 4? Brownell teased during a 2024 interview with TV Insider: "I do think that there are some clues at the end of Season 3 of where we’re headed,” adding, “So yeah, I leave that to fans to pick apart, but I think we’re tipping our hand just a little bit."

It seems likely that the fourth season could focus on either Benedict Bridgerton or his sister Eloise Bridgerton. We're also not ruling out the possibility of Francesca Bridgerton (played by Hannah Dodd), but she is seen in the Season 3 trailer being presented to the Queen with her mother Violet Bridgerton, which would mean that Francesca is already on the marriage market in the third season.

Will there be more Bridgerton after Season 4?

So far, the show has only been renewed through Season 4. However, creator Chris Van Dusen "would love" to do eight seasons of Bridgerton, one for each book.

Speaking to Collider in 2020, Van Dusen said, "But, this being a family of eight children and there being eight books, I would love to be able to focus and really tell stories and love stories for all the Bridgerton siblings. For each character, for sure.
