Oct. 19—She's alive! The Fox Theater will kick off Halloween week with its Cults & Classics screening of "The Bride of Frankenstein" on Monday.

The 1935 horror classic brings back Boris Karloff as the Monster, who we learn survived the events of "Frankenstein."

In a bit of fun casting, Elsa Lancaster plays both Mary Shelley, the work's real-life author, and the titular role.

Shelley, along with husband Percy Bysshe Shelley (Douglas Walton) and their friend Lord Byron (George Gordon) open the film discussing that the the story did not end when the book ended

Dr. Frankenstein (Colin Clive) and the Monster have both survived. As the scientist hopes to move on with his fiancee, Elizabeth (Valerie Hobson), his old college professor and mentor Dr. Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger) has other devious plans. Showing Frankenstein his own experiments, Pretorius demands they team up to create a companion for the creature.

Sensing his former student's reluctance, Pretorius kidnaps Elizabeth, spurring on more drama.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the theater, 2001 H St.

Tickets are $5 at thebakersfieldfox.com, by phone 661-324-1369 or at the Fox box office weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
