Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green were wed for nearly a decade when they called off their marriage in May 2020. Now, the former couple are focused on coparenting the three children they share together, Noah Shannon, 11, Bodhi Ransom, 10, and Journey River, 7. But from the sound of it, sometimes it requires a bit of patience on both of their parts.

Speaking with E! News at Steel City Comic Con in Pittsburgh over the weekend, where he was part of a Beverly Hills 90210 panel, Green said that number one was to "always make sure that everything is centered around the experience of the kids."

"People make a mistake of thinking that they're gonna do things so the separation doesn't affect the kids and that's—of course it's gonna affect the kids," he explained. "The only choice you have is how it affects the kids."

The 50-year-old also stressed that it was important to "pick your battles," referring to Fox, who is newly single after ending her engagement to rapper Machine Gun Kelly.

"The person that you were with that you're now separated from, you guys are separated for a reason, because you didn't get along," Green continued. "So, you can't expect to then get along after the fact in raising your kids. So, you have to decide, ‘OK, it's not about us getting along anymore. It's about us co-parenting, which is a totally different situation.'"

Fox and Green first began dating in 2004 after meeting on the set of the ABC sitcom Hope & Faith when she was 18 years old and he was 30. And it's safe to say he knows a little something about coparenting, as Fox was stepmom to his first son Kassius, now 22, who he shares with his former 90210 cast mate Vanessa Marcil.

Green also welcomed a son with his Dancing With the Stars partner Sharna Burgess in 2022, and they became engaged the following year.
