IHOP went ahead and did it. The restaurant chain renamed itself IHOB (International House of Burgers), the company announced on Monday — and people are mad.
“Good morning to everyone except IHOP,” one user wrote. Another upset fan said, “I’ll be taking my business to @DennysDiner.”
“Congrats on naming your restaurant after the item I’d be least likely to get there. What an epic failure,” wrote another of the new name, which replaces the original International House of Pancakes.
“Silicon Valley” star Kumail Nanjiani also took to Twitter on Monday to write, “Finally. A place in America where I can get some burgers.”
On June 6, IHOP announced on its Facebook page that on June 18 it would change its name by flipping the P (for “pancakes”) to a B. IHOP didn’t actually say what the B in “IHOB” will stand for. Most people assumed “breakfast.” But on Monday, the company announced it would stand for “burgers.”
“Dear Internet, we abbreciate your batience. Now let’s see who guessed right. B-hold!!!!! #IHOb,” the company tweeted along with a video showcasing the big reveal.

“Burgers are a quintessential, American menu item so it makes perfect sense that IHOP, one of the most iconic, all-American comfort-food brands in the world, would go over the top to create a delicious line-up of quality burgers that hit the spot any time of day,” chef Nevielle Panthaky, head of Culinary at IHOB said in a statement.
“We are definitely going to be IHOP,” Darren Rebelez, president of IHOP, told CNNMoney. “But we want to convey that we are taking our burgers as seriously as our pancakes.”

But……. but iHop’s burgers are terrible. This @IHOb thing is a pretty dope marketing strategy but your burgers taste like card board boxes.

I have never. Not once in my life, gotten a burger from IHOP. And I never will.

You order a burger from iHop, you’re liable to do anything.

Why couldn’t you be international house of brunch and start serving mimosas and bellinis
