Mrs Singapore Universe 2022, Evone Lim, launched anti-abuse campaign with non-profit organization UCS to raise awareness on family violence in the community.

Singapore - (NewMediaWire) - January 19, 2023 - Domestic and family violence is not a private matter, victims need help and need to receive help early. Non-profit organization UCS (Universal Community Services) joins hands with Mrs Singapore Universe 2022, Evone Lim, to launch "Break the Silence" campaign under Purple Ribbon Project, to raise awareness on family violence in the community.

Evone Lim is a chartered accountant managing group of companies under BizCom Holdings, with advocacy on corporate social responsibility. She is an activist for the anti-violence movement, with campaigns addressed to the victims who want relief from the tormented behaviour, by raising awareness in communities to speak aloud in opposition to abuse or violence, educating the public in recognizing the hand signal for help, and know know how to react as first responders.

The movement does not only encourage people to "Break the Silence", but they also learn to understand whether someone is suffering abuse and how to seek help. Regardless of whether they are witnesses or the victim, they should be aware of what to do if need to signal for help or report discreetly, and have the right to be helped and supported. Moreover, they do not need to fear the aftermaths of raising their voice, as the authority will address the outcomes and ensure that they will be well-supported.

Anyone who witnessed, suspected, or worse is a victim of violence or abuse is welcome to reach out to the campaign members or call the National Anti-Violence & Sexual Harassment Helpline. The most common are family and household violence, child abuse, harassment of youths, workplace harassment, sexual harassment or abuse in public and secluded places, and many other forms.
