Angelina Jolie might be regretting ever buying Château Miraval with ex-husband Brad Pitt. The French winery, in which she sold her interest to a Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler in 2021, has been the source of ongoing litigation between her and Pitt — and he won’t back down with the legal claims that his ex-wife sold her shares without his consent to “inflict harm” on his involvement with the business.

It sounds like a pretty messy situation because Us Weekly sources are reporting that the 60-year-old actor seems to be on a path of revenge after Jolie’s sale to an outsider. “Brad is willing to drag out the lawsuit over Château Miraval and Angie as long as possible if needed,” the insider said. “He is not giving up and will do it to spite Angie with vengeance.” That doesn’t sound like the healthiest approach, but Pitt reportedly stands on the ground that a “principle was broken” with the sale of the winery and there’s still “a truth to be told.”

It’s no secret that Jolie and Pitt had a less-than-amicable divorce after alleged domestic violence allegations in 2016 triggered years of lawsuits over child custody, shared property, and FBI investigations. What’s confusing about Pitt’s emotions over Château Miraval is that the courts recently sided with Jolie in the case by dismissing five of the seven claims Pitt made against her, according to Entertainment Tonight.

Paul Murphy, Jolie’s lawyer, gave a strongly worded statement to ET. “The judge dismissed most of Mr. Pitt’s claims because they don’t have a legal basis. Mr. Pitt’s lawsuit has never been about a business dispute; instead, it is about his attempts to cover up serious abuse, and we are gratified the judge has thrown out so much of Mr. Pitt’s complaint,” the statement reads. “Angelina truly harbors no ill-will toward Mr. Pitt and hopes he will now release her from his frivolous lawsuit, stop his relentless attacks, and join her in helping their family heal in private.” There are still two claims against Jolie that are moving forward.

It sounds like Pitt is going to hang on with his fight until the bitter end, though. “The vineyard means a lot to him, and he is willing to testify in court if he has to,” the Us Weekly source added. But the legal battle keeps Pitt and Jolie entangled with each other long after their divorce was finalized.
