Divorce can be an extremely trying time for the children, but for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s kids, their parents’ divorce actually drew them closer. After their parents separated in September 2016, the famous siblings turned to each other for love and support. Pitt and Jolie share their six kids: Maddox, 18, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 11. According to a source for HollywoodLife, the kids became more “protective” of each other after their parents’ divorce, and though the split was a sad time for the family, Pitt and Jolie are glad to see their children becoming such a tightly-knit group.

“All of Angelina and Brad’s kids are extremely close,” the source told HollywoodLife. “They’re all very caring and protective of each other. They have alway been a tight unit, but their parents’ divorce made the bond between them even stronger. They still bicker sometimes, like all siblings do, but overall they get along really well.”

Whether staying in their Los Angeles home or traveling to their parents’ filming locations, their relationships between the kids have been positively fostered over the years. “Angelina really encourages that feeling of being a little tribe,” the insider continued. “She has group meetings so everyone can share their feelings. They do game nights, they read to each other; there is a lot of group time. Brad’s so close with his bother and sister (Doug Pitt and Julie Pitt Neal), so it’s something he wanted for his kids, too. He and Angelina are totally on the same page with that.”

Jolie recently wrote a personal essay for the September issue of Elle agazine, where she shared her pride in the young adults her children are becoming, as well as the advice she gives to her daughters. “I often tell my daughters that the most important thing they can do is to develop their minds,” Jolie wrote in the essay. “You can always put on a pretty dress, but it doesn’t matter what you wear on the outside if your mind isn’t strong.” We’re glad to see Pitt and Jolie’s children thriving after what was definitely a trying time.
