Apparently, pretending to be madly in love isn’t always as fun as it looks!

Marion Cotillard opened up about the “awkward” sex scene she had to film with Brad Pitt in their upcoming romantic thriller, Allied. According to Us Weekly, the co-stars get busy in the back of a car in the middle of a sandstorm.

“We rehearse and had a very determined choreography, and then it allows you freedom. When you know exactly what your body will do, then you can act and you can be free to give the emotions and give the feelings because you won’t think, ‘What am I going to do next? Am I going to go on top of him?’ It’s an awkward situation,” she told reporters during a press day on Sunday. “We laughed because you need to get it out — because this is so weird. And so you get this time of looking at each other and saying, ‘OK, this is so weird.’ And then we go into this and then I’m going on top of you and then we are going to kiss.”

Cotillard also revealed that she helped Pitt learn French, her native language, for the World War II drama. “He had this commitment to do the best he could, which was really, really impressive, so I helped him by being very tough,” she revealed. “I was very honest with him. But at the same time, I really wanted to support him in this process that I went through, and I know how hard it is.”

If you recall, the 41-year-old actress falsely found herself at the center of infidelity rumors when Angelina Jolie filed from divorce from Pitt in September. Page Six alleged that Angie hired a private detective because she suspected the onscreen lovers were having an affair. Cotillard was forced to issue a denial, calling the speculation “crafted,” while also revealing she was pregnant with her second child with her longtime partner, actor and director Guillaume Canet.

Pitt has slowly re-emerged into the spotlight while his divorce drama rages on behind the scenes. The 52-year-old actor is currently promoting Allied in China and has made red carpet appearances on behalf of the film; however, Cotillard has been taking on most of the heavy promotional lifting back home.

“He’s such a good man,” Marion told ET. “Of course he’s an amazing actor. He’s such a good person that it’s really not difficult to get along with him.”

She added, “Sometimes, you have nothing in common, no chemistry, and it still works on screen. You have many different situations, but we had this chance to have this period of time to get along together.”

Allied hits theaters on Nov. 23.
