Brad Falchuk says he is 'too uncomfortable' to cook for wife Gwyneth Paltrow

The key to Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk’s marriage is to not have too many cooks in the kitchen — literally.

Falchuk, 52, explained that he has stepped away from cooking for his wife over the pair’s nine year relationship.

“I cooked for Gwyneth at the beginning of our relationship. But when she watches me in the kitchen, I can feel her eyes on me — the way I’m chopping or the way I’m frying,” the Glee co-creator said when chatting with The Hollywood Reporter about his new Netflix series, The Brothers Sun. “I’m just too uncomfortable.”

He continued to explain that he’d be “nuts” to cook, considering Paltrow, 51, is so good in the kitchen. “Should I throw the football or should Tom Brady?” he joked.

Paltrow has authored multiple cookbooks, shares recipes on her website and newsletter, and often documents her "boyfriend breakfasts" for Falchuk on social media.

"I noticed that when I would tell people that I really love to cook for Brad, some of my friends were like, 'Wow, that's so old-fashioned.' And they were kind of teasing me about it," she told Vogue in 2022.

Paltrow said she pondered the question: "Can you be a feminist and still like to do domestic things?" Ultimately she decided yes, because "it feeds me to take care of people and cook as much as I hope it takes care of them."

In his Hollywood Reporter feature, Falchuk called himself and Paltrow “homebodies” and said that they are “pretty private” despite her fame.

“Gwyneth is a huge, obviously public figure, but it’s not who she is or what she’s chasing, right?” he said. “Our relationship, being husband and wife, that exists on a desert island somewhere.”

Though he doesn't like attention himself, he said, “I love how she is in the world and how much she’s moving culture forward. I find it all delightful.”

His support for Paltrow extends to his love for Goop’s beauty line, good.clean.goop.

"Brad loves the eye patches," Paltrow told PEOPLE in November, adding that he also loves the Goop shampoo. "He tried it for the first time, and he's like, 'This shampoo is incredible. Look how soft and shiny my hair is.'"

"I was like, 'I cannot believe I did not video that.' It was so genius," she continued.

The couple, who wed in September 2018, share a blended home with Paltrow’s children, Apple, 19, and Moses, 17, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Martin, and Falchuk’s children, Isabella, 19, and Brody, 17, from his marriage to ex-wife Suzanne Bukinik.

Paltrow and Falchuk first met in 2010, when the actress made a guest appearance on Glee. At the time, she was married to the Coldplay frontman and Falchuck, a Glee co-creator, was married to Bukinik.

After splitting from their respective spouses, the couple quietly began dating in August 2014, going public with their romance in April 2015 and getting engaged in 2017.
