That cover of Credence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising," the one that's been stuck in your head since you heard it in the midseason trailer for "The Walking Dead" last week? Here it is, performed by the band Mourning Ritual:
Here is the full version of the CCR Bad Moon Rising cover that Peter sang on for the Walking Dead Soundtrack: http://t.co/j231UmbpTv— July Talk (@julytalk) January 18, 2014
Fans frantically searching the Interwebs last week were stymied in their efforts to locate the band or a link to the tune online. But we've tracked down the song and the full version can be purchased at Mourning Ritual's Bandcamp page.
That haunting voice you hear belongs to Peter Dreimanis, lead singer of the Canadian band July Talk, whose website colorfully compares the group's sound to "Tom Waits and Amy Millan shouting whiskey-soaked lullabies while backed by the members of Crazy Horse."
The song is just the latest tune from "TWD" to become a fan earworm, as Shazam reported five of the top 20 most Shazam'd songs from TV shows last year were from "TWD" episodes, including the No. 1 song on the list, Ben Howard's "Oats in the Water."
"Oats" was featured in the Season 4 episode "Internment," aka the ep that should earn Scott Wilson an Emmy nomination for his performance as the late, great Hershel Greene.
"The Walking Dead" Season 4 returns on Feb. 9 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
