The Boys Sets Season 4 Release Date

Just call them The Boys of summer: Season 4 of Prime Video’s hit comic book series will premiere Thursday, June 13, with its first three episodes, the streamer has announced. The release will be followed by one new installment weekly until the season finale on Thursday, July 18.

To mark Homelander’s birthday, Prime Video has also released a new poster featuring the supe and Victoria Neuman looking chummy at a political event.

The upcoming eight-episode season finds the world “on the brink,” while “Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power,” reads the official synopsis. “Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son as well as his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.”

In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Eric Kripke revealed that recent events on the spinoff Gen V, particularly Butcher discovering the nefarious secret program The Woods and the virus that can kill supes, which is currently in Victoria’s possession, will “be a big Season 4 storyline.”

As previously reported, Jeffrey Dean Morgan — who is the latest Supernatural alum to appear on the series — will recur in Season 4 as an undisclosed character. (Watch Morgan and Karl Urban’s Butcher share a scene in the teaser trailer.) Additionally, the new season will welcome Rosemarie Dewitt (United States of Tara, Little Fires Everywhere) as Hughie Campbell’s mom; Susan Heyward (Orange Is the New Black) as supe Sister Sage; Valorie Curry (The Following) as supe Firecracker; Rob Benedict (Supernatural); and Elliot Knight (Life Sentence, Once Upon a Time). Meanwhile, Cameron Crovetti, who plays Homelander’s son Ryan, has been promoted to series regular.
