After a lengthy hiatus and the premiere of the spin-off series “Gen V,” the wait for new episodes of “The Boys” is finally coming to an end. Eric Kripke’s satirical superhero franchise returns to Prime Video in 2024, and a new trailer promises that Season 4 will be every bit as dramatic (and R-rated) as its predecessors.

The new trailer, which debuted at CCXP São Paulo on Saturday, shows the supes dealing with the aftermath of their battle with Homelander (Anthony Starr) and preparing for a looming election as the existence of superheroes becomes an increasingly polarizing topic in America.

In addition to returning stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti, Season 4 sees Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan joining the cast.

Kripke recently explained that Season 4 would pick up where the shocking Season 3 cliffhanger left off, but stressed that Ryan’s (Cameron Crovetti) turn to the dark side is not necessarily a foregone conclusion.

“I don’t think the game’s over yet. I think [Ryan] saw this one thing and I think we should all be afraid because if he becomes another Homelander, that’s obviously really bad for the planet,” Kripke said. “But he’s still Becca’s (Shantel VanSanten) kid and there’s still a shot that Butcher (Urban) can pull him into the light. [Season 4] will really be this tug of war over Ryan, as both men really try to get a grip on him.”

“The Boys” continues to expand into one of the biggest comic book properties on television. In addition to the flagship series, another season of the college-set “Gen V” is currently in the works. There’s also the animated series “The Boys Presents: Diabolical,” and Amazon is developing a Spanish language spin-off that would be set in Mexico City.

“The Boys” Season 4 will stream on Prime Video in 2024. Check out the new trailer below.
