‘Boys Don’t Cry’ Director Kimberly Peirce Set To Helm ‘Man’s Search For Meaning’
Kimberly Peirce has signed on to direct the film adaptation of Viktor Frankl’s best selling Holocaust memoir, Man’s Search For Meaning for Straight Up Films. Production is scheduled to being next year with Kate Cohen and Marisa Polvino of SUP producing alongside Kevin Hall. Straight Up Films will be financing.
Published in 1946, it chronicles Psychiatrist Frankl’s journey of finding meaning and purpose during the darkest days of World War II. He was among those sent to the concentration camps by the Nazis, where he utilized his therapeutic skills to inspire prisoners to fight for their survival by finding meaning in their suffering. Man’s Search for Meaning has sold more than 12 million copies in 24 languages and The Library of Congress has named it among “the ten most influential books in America.”
Pierce directed, co-write, and produced the critically acclaimed film Boys Don’t Cry for which star Hilary Swank won the Oscar for Best Actress. Other directing credits include the Carrie remake starring Julianne Moore and Chloë Grace Moretz, and the war drama Stop-Loss with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ryan Phillippe.
