The Boys college-set spin-off officially starts production with new cast members

The Boys live-action spin-off is officially back on track.
After losing a few actors due to scheduling issues over the course of a long development period, the new college-set series from the world of The Boys started production last week.
London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, and Shelley Conn comprise the new crop of actors joining the spin-off cast as series regulars, EW has learned. Thor is coming in as a replacement for Reina Hardesty, one of the previously cast stars who had departed the project.
Eric Kripke, showrunner of the main The Boys series and one of the architects of the growing TV franchise, confirmed to EW that production has started.
"It's been a long, winding process but I hope people like it as much as I like it," he said. "It's a really smart, funny, insane show. It's totally different than The Boys, but it's completely within that world and tone."
Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, and Maddie Phillips make up the other previously announced series regulars on the show.

Hardesty, Aimee Carrero, and Shane Paul McGhie had been three of six leads once announced for the spin-off more than a year ago, but given the project's prolonged development, their schedules no longer aligned.
Los Angeles-raised Thor — an actress, singer, and writer — has had guest-starring roles on shows like Netflix's You and Never Have I Ever. She's made her mark on the trance/EDM space, working with artists like Gareth Emery, Markus Schultz, and Shane 54.
Luh first broke into music in 2013 with his debut mixtape and has since transitioned into acting with a guest-star appearance in Marvel's Runaways, a recurring guest star on CBS' All Rise, and a six-episode recurring guest star arc on Starz's Shining Vale.
Germann is considered a newcomer, but he'll soon be seen working with Evan Peters in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Ryan Murphy's new Netflix limited series. Germann started his career on stage at the Ruskin Theatre in Los Angeles in productions like Suburbia, This is Our Youth, Orphans, and The Red Coat.
Conn was seen recently playing Lady Mary Sharma on Bridgerton season 2 on Netflix, and she'll be seen on screen again in Good Omens season 2 on Amazon. Her past credits include BBC and Sundance TV's Liar, Netflix's The Irregulars, Channel 5 and Virgin Media's The Deceived, Starz's The Rook, and Endor and Epix's Deep State.

Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters are now serving as showrunners on the untitled The Boys series, which is set at a college campus run by Vought International for supes-in-training. Like Hunger Games but with superheroes, these young supes are competing against each other to score hot contracts in the best cities.
Kripke previously told EW the goal was to make an authentic college show, but, you know, with supes. He had said, "We got really interested in, 'Wouldn't it be great if we could take superheroes and make one of the most realistic college shows that's ever been made?' 'Cause they're not made very often."
The Boys proper will return to Amazon Prime Video for season 3 starting with the first three episodes dropping June 3.
