Bowie Jane reacts to being called a floater on “Big Brother”

The third-place finisher also reveals her pitch to the jury had she made the final two.

Bowie Jane made it all 100 days on Big Brother season 25. Unfortunately, she did not make it to the final two after Jag Bains cut her loose in third place on Thursday's live finale and chose to bring his Minutemen alliance-mate Matt Klotz to the final two instead — even though he had led Bowie Jane to believe they had a final two deal in place.

It was a tough end for a player who had never once touched the nomination block and was so close to addressing the jury instead of being on it herself. Although it's unclear how she would have done with said jury considering all the comments from the jurors about how Bowie Jane lacked agency in the game.

How does Bowie Jane feel about being cut loose by Jag? How would she have pitched herself to the jury had she made it to the end? And what does she say to those who call her a floater? We spoke to the 45-year-old attorney/DJ a few hours after she stepped out of the house and got the full scoop. (Also make sure to read our finale Q&As with Jag, Matt, juror Cameron Hardin, and host Julie Chen Moonves.)

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How surprised were you when Jag did not take you to the final two after leading you to believe that he would?

BOWIE JANE: Yeah, look, last night I kind of had a feeling that things were not good for me with that. Actually, it was the night before last, so that's why I thought I'm going to do a little pitch before he goes to bed so he sits and thinks about it. I understood his decision though. He has been with Matt the whole time and it was kind of the honorable thing to do. I thought it was risky for him, but it worked out in the end.

Why did you ultimately give your vote to Jag?

I gave my vote to Jag because I've probably been closest with him during the game, and I did say I would do that. Because my offer to him was: I'm going to take you to the final two if I win, and I don't expect you to say anything in response. And it's true, I didn't. And if I'm in the jury, I'm going to vote for you. And so I stuck to that.

So let's play a game of Big Brother What If? What do you think happens if Jag does take you to the end? How do you think you do with the jury?

I think I'm always wary that the jury's probably got their mind made up before they get in. I had planted a few seeds with a couple of jury members, Felicia and Cirie, letting them know that I'd been in alliance with Matt and Jag from week six, so that they knew that I wasn't playing the middle. Because I was also trying to give the impression that I was playing the middle during the game, but I never was playing the middle.

So I tried to plant a few seeds with that. Felicia actually said before she left, she said, "You've actually played a really good game in here." So I did a few of those things and then I would've, in my speech, reiterated the fact that I've never been on the block, that I've been maneuvering around the game, that I've stuck true to my word and then stuck to the alliances. I wasn't afraid to work with good competitors, and also, I wasn't afraid to win when I knew I had a strong team around me.

It's funny, because I was going to ask you to give me your final speech to the jury and you just kind of did a little bit. That was your pitch you were going to make, right?

Yeah, that's right. I mean, having a strong team around you means you can win HOHs because they're going to win the next week. People may think, "Oh, you're just wanting to work with them 'cause they're winning." Well, hang on, I won three HOHs, so we were literally rotating through the HOHs and going through our list of people we were eliminating.

If you wanted to have a chance to win the season, how key do you think it would've been for you to win that final HOH?

I think it really would've helped a lot actually. I was thinking that when I was watching the final HOH, that would've been another thing that I could really sell myself to the jury, like, "Look, I've just won four HOHs. I've proved myself and I haven't been on the block." I think that would've really helped. Yeah, it's important.

You were not nominated all season, so is that because your social game was so strong or because you weren't seen as a threat?

My social game is strong. I'm a very social bunny in real life, so I know how to chat with any person. I think that really helped. Also, people knew that I was sticking to my word. So with the Izzy vote, when I was put under pressure, "You're the decider," they said, I still stuck to my word. Same with the Jared vote. I think that helped me because people knew that I was going to be a good person to vote with them. Also being in that Cory, America, Jag, Matt alliance — they were in so many other alliances that when anyone suggested my name, they put a stop to it, because I wasn't playing the middle, I was in an alliance with them.

So folks like America, and Cirie, and Felicia all called you a floater. America — who, by the way, says she loves you as a person — told me you were "totally oblivious of anything going on around her" and "literally has to be told what to do, how to vote, and what is going on." What do you make of that impression they had that you were floating and following rather than leading?

I was really happy for that to be the impression. That was my aim from the start of the game, to give that impression so that I wasn't a threat. "Oh, I'll just go along with the house and I'm happy go lucky, easygoing," all that kind of stuff. Not a criminal trial attorney. And I've had a lot of life experience, so I didn't want any of that to show. So I was just trying to play a little bit like blasé, but I knew exactly what I was doing. Every move I made was on purpose. It wasn't accidental and I wasn't just floating around. The fact that they thought that means I did a good job at it.

I want to go back to what seems like a decade ago when Cory and Jared had that big blow-up and you're sitting in the room and hearing about all these alliances that you know nothing about and include people you thought you were in an alliance with. Was that a wake-up call for you a little bit?

I was shocked, but this had happened just the week after the Red blindside, so it made me very, very happy, because I was like, "Oh, this place is a hot mess everywhere. It's not just me. This place is a hot mess." And to hear that Cirie and Felicia and Mimi were all in those and I was working with them, but they had all these other alliances was insane to me, and I felt very grateful that I was in that room because it really gave me a heads-up. And Jag was sitting there and we're all listening. So yeah, it was good to know that Cirie is really playing hard and a little bit dodgy in there.

Let's talk about another big moment for you which was the Cameron vote. When you became HOH, he was seen as untouchable. Why did that change and how did that impact your game moving forward?

I didn't want to get rid of Cameron, but Cameron had made a few comments to me that, "We're going to have to get rid of Jag and Matt eventually." And he was also suggesting Cory. Now these are people I was working with. And he's a big name.

Jag and I were talking about it, and I was like, "If he said stuff about me, let's go ahead with it." He comes back with something he said about me. I'm like, "Cool, let's go. Cameron has to go. He's doubting me now. He's doubting that I'm working with other people, and that I'm reliable. So if that's happening, here's another reason why he's got to go. Great competitor, not quite on board with me, and wants to get rid of my people in my alliance. Time to go."

Let's get to the most important thing here. What do you make of Felicia saying you don't look 45?

Seriously! I was like, "In real life, you can't say those comments. Hello?" I was like, "Dude..." I thought, "Yeah, that was a bit wild, but whatever." I think I look pretty good for 45.

What is the feeling like now to be out of the house?

It's the weirdest. It was just wonderful walking out on stage. I didn't know I was going to be that excited walking out. Like, I just lost and I was so excited. And I saw my parents in the audience from Australia. I could see Jag's sister and brother. So it was just absolutely thrilling. It became less thrilling when the pre-jury walked out because you could see they were a bit jaded. So that was a little bit stressful. But it's a game and I'm glad to be out. A hundred days. Last night I was like, "You know what, I'm ready to go now. It's been fun, but it's time to go."
