Bow Wow Reveals Past Lean Addiction: “I Was Losing My F**king Mind”

Bow Wow has opened up about his past lean addiction, revealing he once had to be hospitalized due to his consumption of the prescription drug getting out of control.
The Ohio native recently appeared on The Art of Dialogue YouTube channel and gave insight into just how bad his dependency on lean had become at one point during his career. “I was sipping lean,” he said of his drug of choice during the latter half of the ’00s. “I was sipping so much syrup.”
He added that he was “drinking that sh*t like crazy” and his usage had begun to alter his mental health. “I was losing my f**king mind. That lean sh*t had me f**ked up,” he continued. “I was just always irritated.”
Bow Wow remembers realizing he had a serious issue after fainting onstage during his tour run with Chris Brown, leading to him being admitted to a hospital, where he says his recovery began. “The opening night was in Cincinnati and when I got off stage, I collapsed,” the hitmaker recalled.
“I went straight to Cincinnati University Hospital. My stomach was so f**ked up that I ended up going back home to Atlanta after the first show.” Yet, Bow Wow says that due to the sheer amount of the drug that was in his system, he continued to experience “withdrawals” from not drinking lean for a short period after.
“I’m throwing up, I’m shivering in the bed, I’m sweating, I’m going through it,” he explained. “I didn’t know I was having withdrawals. That’s how much lean I was consuming.”
