Botanical Gardens pulls out all the stops for annual evening fundraising event Oct.27

The sound of music and the scent of fine food isn’t the usual fare at the South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center, but it will be Oct. 27 as organizers pull out all the stops for the garden’s 15th annual MOONLIGHT in the GARDENS evening fundraising event.

The Clarissa Serna Band will entertain from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. while patrons can sample delicacies from eight dining stations.

The event also features a silent auction and take-all raffle table.

Guests will find animal ambassadors waiting to greet them as they browse the gardens’ exhibits. There will also be butterfly releases.

Those awaiting a verdict on their silent auction bids will find a fire dancer who will perform during the auction tally.

The fundraiser celebrates the garden’s orchid collection, which is housed in the Samuel Jones Conservatory.

The fundraiser is timed around both peak orchid bloom and full moon,” organizers said in a news release.

The event is limited to guests 18 and older, and alcohol will be served during the event.

Food sponsors include Texas Roadhouse, Brewster Street South, Hu Dat, Jason’s Deli, Hester’s Café, CRB P.O.E.T.S., Ginger Café and Chops & Eggs Hash House.

On the liquid side of the equation, there will be drink stops with margaritas, beer, wine, signature botanical craft beer and non-alcoholic beverages.

Beverage sponsors are L&F Distributors. B&J’s Pizza & Brewpub, Bob Paulson/Debbie Noble and ValueBank Texas.

Single member reservations are $175, and the donation is $200 for others.

Tickets are on sale until October 23, at the Visitors Center, online; or 361-852-2100.
