‘Boring Teddy’ Brings Awkward Marriage Proposal to ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Season Premiere

Brooklyn Nine-Nine returned Tuesday night, and so did Amy’s boring ex-boyfriend Teddy. Captain Holt revealed that the NYPD was looking to shut down some precincts, and Amy was surprised to learn that Teddy was the auditor sent to the Nine-Nine.

Amy broke up with Teddy because he was painfully boring, and he still had a bit of an axe to grind. Amy and Jake tried to butter him to avoid having their precinct shut down. It seemed like Jake and Amy were close to winning Teddy over, but then they found out Teddy’s phone had accidentally recorded a conversation they had about how terrible he is. In an effort to destroy Teddy’s phone, the couple joined Teddy and his new girlfriend for jazz brunch. Jake managed to break Teddy’s phone by ripping off the tablecloth and quickly putting the phone in a glass of orange juice.

While it appeared that the crisis was averted, things were just getting started. Despite having his girlfriend by his side, Teddy proposed to Amy. Amy said no, and Teddy’s girlfriend dumped him. Depressed and disheveled, Teddy recused himself from the audit, and the Nine-Nine got at least one more day of reprieve.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
