Borat defends Rudy Giuliani over ‘innocent sexy-time encounter’ with ‘15-year-old daughter’

Sacha Baron Cohen, in character as Borat, has rushed to the defence of Rudy Giuliani in a new satirical video. The video coincides with the release of Cohen’s film, Borat 2, in which the former New York mayor can be seen lying across a bed during a hotel room interaction with Borat’s “15-year-old daughter”.

In the comedy sequel Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Giuliani participates in an interview for a conservative news programme he doesn’t realise is fake, with Borat’s “daughter" Tutar, played by Maria Bakalova, asking him questions.

Following the interview, the pair move to a hotel room for a drink at Tutar’s suggestion, with Giuliani unaware that the room is rigged with hidden cameras. Soon after, Borat interrupts the pair, saying: “She is 15. She is too old for you”.

Giuliani has subsequently brushed off the controversy over his physical actions in the scene, claiming that he was merely “tucking in [his] shirt” when he lay across the bed in the room.

Cohen, again in character as Borat, has also dismissed the controversy in the new satirical video posted to Borat’s official Twitter account.

In it, he says: “I here to defend America’s Mayor, Rudolph Giuliani. What was an innocent sexy-time encounter between a consenting man and my 15-year-old daughter has been turned into something disgusting by fake news media.”

He continues: “I warn you – anyone else try this and Rudolph will not hesitate to reach into his legal briefs and whip out his su-penis.”

Giuliani, meanwhile, has called claims over his actions in the scene “a complete fabrication”, adding: “At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate. If Sacha Baron Cohen implies otherwise he is a stone-cold liar.”

The Borat sequel, which arrives on Amazon Prime today (23 October), has been called “jaw-dropping” by The Independent, while the film has been promoted with a number of giant statues of the fictional Kazakh journalist so far seen in both Sydney and London.
