‘From Book to Film’ series at Gateway Film Center free with Columbus library card

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Gateway Film Center is partnering with the Columbus Metropolitan Library for a series of book-inspired movies, offering free tickets to those who present library cards.

The nonprofit announced the “From Book to Film” series in early May. From timeless tales of adventure and fantasy to heartwarming coming-of-age stories, the lineup offers something for all ages, according to a Gateway news release.

“We’re thrilled to partner again with our friends at the Columbus Metropolitan Library and invite audiences to experience these beloved stories on the big screen,” said Christopher Hamel, President of Gateway Film Center. “These films capture the imagination and spirit of the original literary works, and we’re excited to share them with our community.”

The first movie in Gateway’s series is a 4K restoration of Jurassic Park, which began on Friday. The 2024 From Book to Film lineup includes the following movies:

  • May 24-25, 27: Jurassic Park (1993) 4K Restoration

  • May 31-June 1: Shrek (2001)

  • June 7-8: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)

  • June 14-15: The Bad Guys (2022)

  • June 21-22: Matilda (1996)

  • June 28-29: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

  • July 5-6: Where the Wild Things Are (2009)

  • July 12-13: The Hunger Games (2012)

  • July 19-20: Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)

  • July 26-27: Paddington 2 (2018)

  • August 2-3: The Iron Giant (1999)

  • August 9-10: Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret (2023)

  • August 16-17: How to Train Your Dragon (2010)

  • August 23-24: Little Women (2019)

  • August 30-31: The Neverending Story (1984)

Tickets for From Book to Film screenings are free for up to four admissions with the presentation of a library card. Additional tickets can be purchased for $5.
