ST. JOSEPH — Pianist Matthew Ball performs from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Box Factory for the Arts, 1101 Broad St.

Known as “The Boogie Woogie Kid,” Ball presents an upbeat program of New Orleans song, boogie-woogie piano and swing-era favorites, including “In The Mood,” “It Had to Be You,” “Georgia,” “On The Sunny Side of the Street,” “What a Wonderful World,” “Bumble Boogie” and more.'

His albums include "They Call Me the Kid Vol. 1" and "They Call Me the Kid Vol. 2."

A lifetime Metro-Detroiter, Ball trained classically at Oakland University and has gone on to perform in 15 states and internationally.

In 2020, Ball was awarded a Chelsea (Mich.) Area Festivals & Events (CAFE) grant in recognition of his “family friendly” music contributions.

Tickets are $15-$12 in advance and $15 at the door; free for ages 12 and younger.
