Bong Joon Ho’s ‘Mickey 17’ with Robert Pattinson Undated at Warner Bros.

“Mickey 17,” the next film from “Parasite” director Bong Joon Ho, has been undated on Warner Bros.’ theatrical calendar and will not open on its previously announced date on March 29.

Moving into that date is “Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire,” which was meant to open April 12 but will now release two weeks ahead of schedule.

A source tells IndieWire “Mickey 17” will have a new release date announced soon, but the film was delayed due to the strike and other shifts in production. It’s unclear when the film is expected to open.

Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo all star in “Mickey 17,” which is Bong’s first film since winning the Oscar for “Parasite.” Bong directed, wrote, and produced the film and adapted it from a novel by Edward Ashton. The studio even shared a first-look teaser from the film as far back as December 2022, so its shift is a surprise.

Pattinson stars as Mickey, who is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever a mission is too dangerous — even suicidal — the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact.

“Mickey 17” is produced by Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Bong Joon-Ho, and Dooho Choi.

Adam Wingard directs the “Godzilla vs. Kong” sequel, which stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Kaylee Hottle, and Daniel Stevens. The film from Warner Bros. and Legendary was also delayed because of the strikes with actors unable to promote to “Dune Part 2,” which took its original slot in March.
