Bones Are Forever - review - Kathy Reichs

The latest outing in the Temperance Brennan series — the basis for the hit Fox show Bones — finds the scientist chasing a baby murderer to a desolate Canadian burg called Yellowknife. Reichs, a forensic anthropologist, makes her crime novels intriguingly realistic. But she also writes sentences like this: ”An SNP, or single nucleotide polymorphism, is a DNA sequence variation in which a single base varies between members of a species or between paired chromosomes in an individual.” If you can get past the lab jargon and other tics (must every chapter end with a goofy cliff-hanger?), Bones Are Forever is a decent detective yarn.
