Bob Odenkirk returns to 'Better Call Saul' set after heart attack: 'So happy to be here'

Bob Odenkirk has returned to work on the set of "Better Call Saul" after suffering a "small heart attack" over the summer.

The actor, who was hospitalized a few months ago after collapsing on set, tweeted Wednesday that he resumed his work on the AMC series for the show's final season.

"Back to work on Better Call Saul! So happy to be here and living this specific life surrounded by such good people," Odenkirk wrote. "BTW this is makeup pro Cheri Montesanto making me not ugly for shooting!"

In July, Odenkirk was hospitalized following a "heart-related" collapse on the show's New Mexico set, his representatives told USA TODAY in a statement at the time.

"(Odenkirk) and his family would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side," the statement said. "The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery.”

Days later, Odenkirk updated his fans on social media, confirming he suffered a "small heart attack" and assuring he was "going to be OK." He also said he didn't have to undergo any procedures.

"I'm going to be ok thanks to Rosa Estrada and the doctors who knew how to fix the blockage without surgery," he tweeted on July 30.

Odenkirk added that he would be taking "a beat to recover," but promised he would "be back soon" to continue shooting the sixth and final season of "Better Call Saul," which is set to air next year.

Since then, Odenkirk has made a slow return to Twitter, tweeting his own emotional reassurance and thanks to well-wishers. In an Aug. 12 Twitter update, the recovering Odenkirk took a walk with "Better Call Saul" co-star Michael Mando and tweeted about, well, hugs and love.

"I keep getting good energy, hugs, love, from everyone, strangers, old friends," Odenkirk wrote. "I can't take all this goodness at once, but I guess I'll have to. Hope you are having a great day today."
