‘Bob Marley: One Love’ trailer stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as reggae legend [Watch]

Are you ready for Bob Marley and the Wailers?

On Tuesday, Paramount debuted a new trailer for the studio’s upcoming biography film “Bob Marley: One Love,” which stars “One Night in Miami” and “Barbie” actor Kingsley Ben-Adir as the reggae legend.

“BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through his message of love and unity,” reads a synopsis provided by the studio. “On the big screen for the first time, discover Bob’s powerful story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music.”

The new film comes from director Reinaldo Marcus Green (“King Richard”), with a screenplay by Terence Winter & Frank E. Flowers and Green and “King Richard” writer Zach Baylin. Lashana Lynch costars as Marley’s wife, Rita.

“There were a lot of reservations,” Ben-Adir told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview when asked about playing the iconic Marley. “I was completely convinced that there’s no point in auditioning for this. I can’t sing. I can’t dance… My question was if they’d been on a worldwide search and they said yes. And I said maybe they should go on another one.”

But despite his self-deprecation, Ben-Adir said he spent hours researching Marley and his life and work in an effort to embody the singer. (The final film uses a mix of Ben-Adir’s vocals and Marley’s voice.)

“The more I dug into Bob, the more I realized that music was really everything to him,” Ben-Adir said. “It really saved him, and he separated himself from other artists around that time.”
