Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash sessions unearthed for new Bootleg Series release

The post Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash sessions unearthed for new Bootleg Series release appeared first on Consequence of Sound.

In February 1969, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash spent two days recording together in Columbia Studios in Nashville. Most of that historic get-together has gone unreleased… until now. According to Rolling Stone, the session will be issued as part of Dylan’s 15th Bootleg Series installment.

Due out November 1st, The Bootleg Series Vol. 15 dedicates one-and-a-half discs to the Cash and Dylan session. Of the 20-plus included tracks, there’s various takes on “Girl From the North Country”, “Guess Things Happen That Way”, and “Mountain Dew”. The two music legends also covered “Mystery Train” (first made famous by Elvis Presley) and recorded six tracks with rockabilly icon Carl Perkins.

The forthcoming collection is rounded out by rare outtakes from Dylan albums John Wesley Harding and Nashville Skyline, recorded in 1967 and 1969, respectively. Additionally, there are tracks from Dylan’s appearance on The Johnny Cash Show in 1969. Pre-orders for Vol. 15 are now ongoing.

As a teaser, check out “I Pity the Poor Immigrant” from the John Wesley Harding sessions. Below that find the full tracklisting.

Dylan recently added new October dates for his “Never Ending Tour“. Purchase tickets here.
