Good Samaritan drowns in rescue effort after boat capsizes off Lake Worth jetty

RIVIERA BEACH — A Good Samaritan died after trying to rescue people from a boat that had capsized Saturday south of the Lake Worth jetty, according to Riviera Beach Fire Rescue officials.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, U.S. Coast Guard and Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office also responded to the accident, which occurred after noon.

Three adults and nine children were rescued, and taken to Sailfish Marina for evaluation, Fire Rescue said.

FWC is investigating the death of the man, whose identity officials did not disclose.
