How is this possible? Beyoncé’s dad, Mathew Knowles, just shared a new photo of Blue Ivy, and she looks so grown up. Man, it happens fast, doesn’t it? It feels like just yesterday Beyoncé and Jay-Z were welcoming their firstborn into the world, and now here she is looking like she’s ready to take that world on by herself. And speaking of Bey, there’s no denying the mother and daughter look more alike with each passing year.

ICYMI, today is Blue Ivy’s birthday (happy birthday, Blue!). In celebration, Knowles took to Instagram to send a special shout-out to granddaughter. To do so, he posted a never-before-seen picture that appears to be a classic back-to-school style shot. Wearing an orange shirt and a skirt with cherries on it, Blue stands in front of a wall wearing her backpack. “Happy birthday to my beautiful and oldest granddaughter Blue Ivy. Love Papa G,” Knowles wrote. That message was then echoed in animation added to the picture, which featured stars and confetti.

With her hair long and straight and a look that screams confidence, Blue Ivy definitely channels Beyoncé in the cute birthday shout-out. While people often liken the now-8-year-old to her dad, this photo is the latest evidence that she could very well turn out to be her mom’s mini-me.

Fans also got to see some behind-the-scenes photos of Blue Ivy at the start of the new year, when Beyoncé posted a year-end recap video. In that footage, several personal family events were showcased: the birthday party for Blue’s siblings Rumi and Sir, the birthday party for Beyoncé, the family’s Fourth of July fun and more.

Blue Ivy popped up again in New Year’s Eve photos shared by rapper Megan Thee Stallion. The “Hot Girl Summer” singer revealed two new pics of herself ringing in 2020 alongside Beyoncé and Blue — the latter of whom showed off the cutest grin.

Sounds to us like Blue’s 8^th year is off to a pretty great start.
