The latest trailer for Apple TV’s new World War II drama, Masters of the Air, has arrived.

Produced by Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, and Gary Goetzman as a follow-up to Band of Brothers and The Pacific, Masters of the Air stars Austin Butler (Elvis) as real-life pilot, Major Gale Cleven, of the 100th Bombardment Group, and follows the story of the young Americans who took to the skies over a war-torn Europe in the 1940s.

The new trailer gives viewers a taste of what those aircrews put on the line, opening with a tender moment between Major Cleven and his lover. “I’ll miss you every second,” he says as they embrace. Then, tension builds as Cleven and his crewmates are told that they’re about to send “the largest air armada ever assembled in the history of mankind straight into Hitler’s territory.” Wheels lift off, the planes head into enemy airspace, and all hell breaks loose as combat begins. When the fighting is over, we see a shell-shocked Cleven sitting in a cluttered airplane cabin, realizing the gravity of what he and his fellow Americans are up against.

The trailer then gives us a further taste of what Masters of the Air will offer, including the ensemble cast featuring Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inisherin), Callum Turner (Fantastic Beasts), Anthony Boyle (The Plot Against America), Nate Mann, Raff Law, and others. We also see previews of a Tuskegee Airmen storyline, German concentration camps, a few possible romances, and more. Watch the trailer below.

The first two episodes of Masters of the Air will premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday, January 26th, 2024, with new episodes arriving every Friday after that until March 15th.

Masters of the Air is based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name. The series was first announced in 2019, and has been in-progress for several years.
