Based on the namesake Valiant Comics character, Bloodshot is a superhero film. The plot revolves around U.S. Marine Ray Garrison, who is left for dead after his wife is killed by a man connected to one of his past missions. Ray suffers from apparent amnesia and wakes up in a secret facility to discover that he now has experimental nanite technology in his body in place of the entire bloodstream as the first subject of the eponymous program. As memories begin to surface in Ray’s mind, he embarks on a path of revenge.

Bloodshot 2’s release date could arrive in 2026 at the earliest.
The initial plan was to use Bloodshot as a launching pad for a cinematic superhero franchise based on the Valiant Comics characters. This included a prospective sequel to Bloodshot. However, the lukewarm critical and audience responses to the first film impacted those plans. Ultimately, the sequel officially went into development in November 2020.
About a month later, Vin Diesel, who portrays the eponymous character, shared a photo of himself as the titular character on his Instagram page, effectively confirming that he was part of the upcoming project. Since then, not much has been heard about the film, though it continues to be in development. If Bloodshot 2 goes into production in 2024, and considering how long post-production generally takes with superhero films, it can potentially come out in theaters in 2026 at the earliest.
