Blood Orange Scores Melina Matsoukas and Lena Waithe’s New Movie Queen & Slim

Blood Orange (aka Devonté Hynes) is scoring a new film by Lena Waithe called Queen & Slim. The modern-day Bonnie and Clyde drama was written and produced by Waithe and directed by Melina Matsoukas (Beyoncé’s “Formation,” Issa Rae’s “Insecure”).

The film stars Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith as young lovers who go on the lam after Kaluuya’s character shoots and kills a police officer (played by Sturgill Simpson) in self-defense. Queen & Slim also stars Chloë Sevigny, Flea, and others.

Blood Orange announced the news today (July 31) on his Instagram page. Scroll down to find his post, as well as the full trailer for Queen & Slim. The film hits theaters on November 27.
