Hugh Jackman Reveals Skin Cancer Scare!

Wolverine just had one big scare!
Hugh Jackman took to social media Thursday to share some frightening news: He had skin cancer. The 45-year-old actor posted a photo on Instagram, with bandages over his nose and the caption, "Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! I had a basil cell carcinoma. Please don't be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!"
It looks like the Academy Award winner can thank his wife of 17 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, for encouraging him to get medical attention.
"It is the most common skin cancer," a physician assistant tells omg!, explaining that it's usually found in places that are "heavily exposed to sunlight."
The Aussie-bred actor has certainly spent numerous days in the sun from his childhood Down Under and from his work as a butt-kicking movie star.
Fellow celebrity Bruce Jenner revealed last month that he also had a basal cell carcinoma on both his check and his nose. He told E! News, "It's all sun damage from the '60s and '50s when I was competitively water-skiing and living on a lake and all my training outside."
Jackman has one month to recover before he is set to host TNT's 32nd annual "Christmas in Washington" concert, featuring performances by the Backstreet Boys, Sheryl Crow, Anna Kendrick, Janelle Monáe, and Pat Monahan, and benefitting the Children's National Health System.
While this was certainly a scary situation, he definitely learned one important lesson: Always listen to your wife.
Wishing you a speedy recovery, Mr. Jackman!
