Should Kris Jenner Start Freaking Out About Her Talk Show Future?

Kris Jenner's quest to become the next talk show queen hit a slight bump in the road.

While "Kris" received decent ratings in the first week of its six-week tryout, it fell behind another potential talk show, "The Real."

Both shows debuted July 15, but "The Real" edged out "Kris" in metered market household ratings and key female demographics. Additionally, while "The Real" improved ratings for its timeslot from a year ago, "Kris" actually decreased ratings for its timeslot.

The somewhat disappointing results are surprising, as Jenner has been pushing and promoting her show on every platform available to her, particularly to her 3 million Twitter followers. Meanwhile, it’s doubtful most people have even heard of “The Real,” a panel-style talk show featuring hosts Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon (who just happens to be the ex-girlfriend of Jenner's son, Rob Kardashian), Jeannie Mai and Tamera Mowry-Housley.

But Jenner shouldn't give up just yet. The good news is that her Monday show was the top-rated for its timeslot in L.A. "Kris" also beat "Ellen" and "Dr. Phil" among key female viewers in Dallas.

Then again, those Monday show numbers were helped by a photo Jenner posted on the show's Facebook page that seemingly teased the introduction of her granddaughter. Instead, Jenner brought out the baby of one of her staff members.

Critics have complained that Jenner focuses too much on her famous family. "On the off-chance Jenner doesn't want to turn 'Kris' into just another cynical promotional opportunity, perhaps it's best to start looking to other topics," wrote Newsday's Verne Gay.
