'Outlander' Cast and Creator Tease Sex, Violence, Romance, and Adventure
Outlander has such massive buzz leading up to its premiere on Starz (Saturday, Aug. 9 at 9 p.m.), thanks in large part to fans of the best-selling novels, but what makes the story so universally loved? And what are fans of the books most excited to see on the small screen?
We caught up with stars Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, and Tobias Menzies and author Diana Gabaldon at Comic-Con in San Diego to get their take on the already massive fandom and how they'll react to seeing the stories play out onscreen.

"I think it's pretty genre busting... Diana's book is part time travel, part historical romance, part historical adventure," Menzies says before admitting that Heughan's character Jamie is "the heart of the piece." But Heughan is Team Frank all the way. Isn't that sweet?
"The bulk of people say, 'Oh, I want to see the wedding night,' which ... everbody wants to see the wedding night," Gabaldon said with a laugh. She then admitted that the scene she's most interested in seeing is — spoiler alert! — the one where Jamie is raped and tortured, which is apparently something that Menzies's Black Jack Randall is also part of. Oh, this show...

But Gabaldon admitted that even if you've read the books, there will still be surprises in store in the series: "I think they've done a spectacular job — I couldn't be more pleased," she said with a smile.
Outlander premieres Saturday, Aug. 9 at 9 p.m. on Starz.
