Jacki Weaver takes creepy to the next level in this Thursday's episode of Gracepoint, the American remake of the hit British mystery Broadchurch.

Sure, Susan Wright (Weaver) has been off-putting and suspicious since day one. When Danny Solano's lifeless body was found on a craggy beach in Northern California, she was eerily calm as she looked on, even after his mother broke down in primal grief — a sight that would move even the most cold-hearted person. She turns the other way when she sees cops and gets snippy with investigators Emmett Carver (David Tennant) and Ellie Miller (Anna Gunn) every time they come around the trailer park where she lives. She generally has an odd bug-eyed stare, pays too much attention to her dog, and, of course, is hiding what the audience assumes is Danny's missing skateboard.

But as you can see in the above exclusive clip from this week's installment of the Fox 10-part series, her disturbing vibe is intensifying. In the video, she sneaks up like a ninja on Vince Novik (Stephen Louis Grush), plumbing partner of Mark Solano (Michael Peña), while he is working on the boiler at the local hotel and flatly states, "You're coming to dinner tonight. I've got the menu all worked out. You need to eat."

She leaves as abruptly as she showed up, and questions immediately arise: Were they in cahoots and/or responsible for Danny's death, and if so, why did they do it? Will Vince show up for supper? What's on the special menu? "She's a very mysterious woman, even a bit odd," Weaver told Yahoo TV at the show's L.A. premiere a few weeks ago. "She's obviously got secrets she's trying to hide, but they will unfold slowly and develop as the series goes on, which is the hallmark of a good mystery."

Gracepoint airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on Fox.
